Install NAAD
NAAD installs from a folder using your browser’s developer mode. It works in Chrome, Brave, Edge, Arc and other Chromium browsers on a computer. It takes about two minutes and you only do it once.

Step by step
Unzip the download
Double-click the zip on a Mac, or right-click it and choose Extract all on Windows. Put the folder somewhere permanent, such as Documents. Your browser runs NAAD from that folder, so do not delete or move it afterwards.
Open your extensions page
Type its address in the address bar and press Enter:
chrome://extensionsin Chrome or Arc,brave://extensionsin Brave,edge://extensionsin Edge.Turn on Developer mode
Use the switch in the top right corner of the extensions page.
Load the folder
Click Load unpacked and choose the unzipped folder, the one that contains a file called
manifest.json. NAAD now appears in your list.Pin it and open it
Click the extensions (puzzle-piece) icon in the toolbar and pin NAAD. Click the NAAD icon to open its side panel.
Record something
Open a tab that is playing audio, click NAAD, press Start Recording, and tap Space at each cue.
Use NAAD on a bigger screen
NAAD Studio runs right in your browser at mathematickle.com/app, with more room for the pads, timeline and arranger. To move what you are working on, click ↗ Web at the top of the NAAD panel; the session opens there with every sample and setting. You can also record there directly: press Start Recording, pick the tab that is playing, and keep Also share tab audio on. Your Pro key works there too and counts as one of your three computers.
Entering your Pro key
Click the badge at the top of the NAAD panel (it reads "3 free left" or "Upgrade"), paste your key under "already bought?", and press Activate. One key works on up to three computers.
Updating NAAD
Download the new zip, replace the contents of your NAAD folder with the new files, then click the circular reload arrow on NAAD’s card on your extensions page. Your samples and license are kept.
If something goes wrong
- "Manifest file is missing or unreadable." You picked the wrong folder. Choose the one that holds
manifest.jsondirectly. - Your browser shows a developer-mode extension warning at startup. This is normal for any extension loaded this way. Dismiss it; do not choose Disable.
- Recording fails or captures silence. Browsers cannot capture their own internal pages, such as the settings or extensions page. Start the tab playing first, then click NAAD from that tab.
- The panel does not open. Make sure NAAD is switched on in your extensions page, then click its toolbar icon again.
